Virginia Greeting Card

Virginia… an early American state and home to several of the nation’s presidents. The legendary singer Ella Fitzgerald also hails from Virginia, a land of waterfalls and forested mountains through which runs the Appalachian Trail. America’s military and naval history has its home in Virginia too, marked by the Arlington Cemetery and submarine at Norfolk in my illustration of the state. Richmond is the state capitol but amazing architectural heritage runs through many cities including Colonial Williamsburg. Virginia is also a land of horses and I loved drawing the wild ponies of Assateague Island and the Chincoteague Pony Swim, just keeping their heads above the water at Chesapeake Bay.
