Illinois

I was commissioned to draw Illinois by one of my licensees and loved discovering this Mid-West American state, which is home to Chicago as well as Frank Lloyd Wright and Abe Lincoln. It is also the origin of the production line as epitomised by the motor car plant, which I have included in the top left of the Cityscape. The repetition in the car plant appears again, in the fields of corn, the mounds of coal and as such this design is very much about the imprint of mankind on the natural landscape. That said, I love the chubby little red cardinals (the state bird), that buzz about my Illinois.
