I love the Scottish Baronial style of architecture of which there is plenty in Edinburgh's Old Town. I love the tiny glazed panel windows, the confident little turrets and the fact that houses look like castles. The most fascinating thing for me about Edinburgh however is that there is a city that is buried underneath the Edinburgh that we know today. There are steep passages and vaults running down from The Royal Mile, where businesses traded and people lived in the 19th century. It's an amazing historical as well as geographical feature of this city and I want to see it. When I visit Edinburgh I love walking up and down the many closes that carve their way into the steep hills. My Cityscape of Edinburgh references the diverse architectural styles of the New and Old Town and includes some of the iconic culture of the city that I love such as the wee Scottish pipers and dancers.
